Creative studio Coffee & TV has appointed Jason Hayes as 2D Supervisor for the company’s film and TV division. His appointment comes following a hugely successful 8 months for the expanding team.

Hayes began his career at MPC and joins Coffee & TV from Jellyfish Pictures, bringing more than 15 years of experience in VFX.

Hayes’ impressive list of credits includes the recently released Asteroid City, outstanding special visual effect nominee Stranger Things S4, outstanding Special Visual Effect Emmy Nominee The Book of Boba Fett and Gangs of London. He was also recently on-set VFX supervisor for the BBC ONE series This is Going to Hurt and Sky Atlantic’s The Baby.

Coffee & TV’s film and TV offering was galvanised earlier in the year by the appointments of Emmy award-winning VFX Producer Clare Cheetham (Chernobyl, The Martian, Altered Carbon, This is England) and Executive VFX Supervisor Jonathan Cheetham (Stranger Things S4, The Book of Boba Fett, Watchmen, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) who joined in January. Since then, the team have completed work on productions including Beyond Paradise, Ghosts Season 5, and the forthcoming Your Christmas or Mine 2 for Amazon, as the sole vendor. This follows earlier work on Academy Award-nominated feature Tár, Marv and Apple TV+ feature Tetris and the BBC TV series Peaky Blinders.

Jason Hayes said: “Coffee & TV have deployed a winning combination of a fantastic creative atmosphere, state-of-the-art kit and carefully selected talent that’s enabling some of the best TV and Film VFX work in the industry. I’m very happy to be a part of it.”

Coffee & TV Film and TV VFX Producer Clare Cheetham added: “We’ve long been fans of Jason’s work and it’s fantastic to welcome him to the team. The diversity of the talent in the Coffee & TV studio enables us to build bespoke teams around each show, tapping into exactly the right talent and kit from around the company. We’ve built some fantastic relationships with clients over the past 8 months and we’ve got some amazing shows in the pipeline. Jason’s appointment feels like a natural next step for our ambitions.

Hayes will be based at Coffee & TV’s new 8,000 sq.ft. studio in Farringdon. The same studio also houses Coffee & TV’s sister company Residence Pictures, a specialist picture finishing facility for high-end features and episodics, enabling seamless workflow across longform VFX.
